Summer InstituteDuring the third year of this project (summer 2010), we are organizing a faculty-led, study-abroad course to China. This 3 1/2-week program will teach students about the societal impact of geology and natural hazards within the context of Chinese society. Through a combination of classroom lectures and field trips, students will learn about geohazard studies and mitigation, natural resources, and the influence on past and present Chinese culture. This Summer Institute is open to undergraduates from all U.S. universities. Funds are available to assist with partial support of travel costs. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented minorities in the geosciences. Contact
